Hampton Inn Raleigh/Town Of Wake Forest

Very Friendly and prompt service, very clean, thoughtful and complimentary items (bottled water, evening cookies, to-go breakfast bags for checkout). The breakfast is typical fare but is served (by Carolyn) in an organized way, constantly replenished and cleaned. Fitness room is also typical but is clean and functioning equipment and televisions. Frankly, I did not expect all this at this price point. This is my hometown & I visit often to see family. BEST hotel experience I’ve had in Wake Forest.

So the best part of the stay was the fact that the keys were electronic and I was able to enter my room without the front desk. I stayed one night me and my service animal and received a call at 9:30am-10:30am saying that room service tried to enter my room to clean and heard a dog bark. (keep in mind check out is 11am). My fiancée proceeded to the front desk and they told her “That my dog in the room is NOT a service animal because SERVICE ANIMALS DONT BARK”. After being told that my fiancée came back and relayed the message. Right when she got back to the room the phone rings again and it’s Tawanda from the front desk. Instead of hi good morning I answer the phone and I hear “IS THIS THE GUY SAYING THAT HE NEEDS A SERVICE PET?” I was livid when I heard the disrespect in her voice so I stated yes and gave her the reasoning I need one over the phone. She still proceeded to tell me that SERVICE ANIMALS DONT BARK. I went down to the lobby for myself now because I was no longer staying in a place that was challenging my disability. By time I got to the front desk ;Tawanda and 4-5 other employees are there like a “gang” ready to attack me. So I instantly asked for a supervisor and the manager was standing right there with the “gang” of front desk employees and stated she was the manager. Her name was Shelby Smith and she had to be one of the rudest and heartless managers I’ve ever experienced. From there start of our conversation she flat out told me that my service animal was not one and tried asking me many questions that went against HIPAA. I recorded the incident and will post and forward it to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) because this had to be the worst experience I have ever encountered. PS. My service Animal DOES NOT BARK UNLESS SHES ALERTING ME WHICH IS RARELY. LIKE IF SHE SENSES ABRUPT FORCE TO A ROOM DOOR WE ARE SLEEPING IN FROM A STRANGER! MY ROOM HAD THE “IN HERE SLEEPING” door tag on the door knob. Also had the turn lock and security latch AND THEY STILL TRIED TO ENTER MY ROOM 9:30am when check out is 11am.

First time in Wake Forest, NC and stayed here for a birthday celebration. The room was clean and had an extra blanket (loved that). The room amenities were great, the 24hr coffee and tea station was always clean as was the lobby. Aja at the front desk was friendly and helpful. They even have a breakfast to go bag, absolutely generous for those who miss breakfast. My main go to hotel chain is (was) Wyndham and Hampton second, but I may have to reevaluate it.

One star only because of friendly front desk staff. Beyond that absolutely dreadful. Roaches in hallways, full trash cans everywhere, dogs barking in rooms, kids crying. We even had a fire alarm and sprinkler tripped at 1.30am. Water everywhere on first floor. Alarm again at 4.30 am. Manager invisible. The alarm can happen , the rest is inexcusable.

I can not say enough regarding the ENTIRE staff at this location. The empathy and genuine concern I was given went beyond the call of duty. My AC went out in the middle of the night and my family (including the dog) spent 5 days at the Hampton. Kristina checked us in with great compassion! Maurice helped me make needed changes to my stay without missing a beat!!! Aja was sweet as pie…greeting me and my family, every day with a smile and kind words! Once back on my feet, this team will hear from me again!!!!
